ABOUT ME

coffee & books

Hi!

One thing about me is, you will ALWAYS catch me drinking an iced coffee - sometimes a matcha latte. You will also most likely see me reading horror, American gothic, murder mystery, or rom com books during my prep period or during independent work time.

I earned my B.A in English Literature at CSU San Bernardino. During my college years, I learned a lot about myself and my teaching philosophy. Personally, I believe that all students are to feel comfortable in the classroom by learning at their own pace, expressing their opinions, and feeling welcomed as soon as they walk into my classroom. This philosophy and pedagogy grew as I read works from Sandra Cisneros, Maya Angelou, bell hooks, Plato, and Allen Ginsberg. The author who has had the biggest impact in my personal life and career is bell hooks since she helped me further establish my belief in community building in the classroom by encouraging students to voice their interests and opinions in an educational sphere.

To further my education, I am now attending Arizona State University in Lesson Design and Technology.

"As a classroom community, our capacity to generate excitement is deeply affected by our interest in one another, in hearing one another’s voices, in recognizing one another’s presence." - bell hooks
